Design process and precautions of FPC flexible cable

First, determine the model, manufacturer, and specification of the connector corresponding to the FPC flexible cable, and evaluate whether the current, service life, and installation method used for the connector can meet the requirements.



2. Making schematic packaging and PCB packaging, especially PCB packaging, should be done according to the manufacturer's recommendations for the first time, and the packaging should be updated in a timely manner if there are changes in actual use in the future.



When designing, it is necessary to first draw a schematic diagram. Component comments can use the manufacturer's material number to facilitate BOM export. At the same time, a network label should be prepared, and then the schematic diagram should be updated to generate a PCB.



4. For power supply networks, pay attention to the relationship between the amount of current flowing through and the line width. Note that the differential lines should be routed to ground, equally long, and spaced to ensure impedance. It is best to route the lines one-to-one, and note that the ground wires should not be directly connected at the B seat due to the same network identification.



5. The size and aperture of FPC flexible cable vias/pads should be 0.2/0.4MM, and should not be smaller as much as possible, otherwise the price will rise. The minimum wire diameter is 0.1mm, the minimum spacing is 0.1mm, and the minimum wire width is 0.12mm. Note that the inner layer thickness of the FPC flexible flex cable is 0.1mm, which can be used as impedance calculation data. For wires with high current, use 1.5 ounces or 2 ounces of copper thickness, while paying attention to whether the number of vias with high current is sufficient.



6. The normal delivery period of FPC flexible cable is 3-4 days, and it can be expedited for 1 day. The number of samples can be 20 pcs. Pay attention to the thickness of the FPC flexible cable and the thickness in contact with the seat when testing the sample. In addition, the materials of the reinforcement include PP, steel sheet, glass fiber, etc.



7. The file name, version number, date, etc. printed on the FPC flexible cable should be clear, preferably on both the front and back sides. The location number of the connector, first pin indication, etc. should be printed on the screen.
